Russian Gravitational Society: Past, Present, Future

The article shows the history of research in our country in the field of general relativity and gravitation. Establishing a section of gravitation of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Higher Education and then the Russian Gravitational Society received primary attention. Data have been presented on the stages of home gravitational community development, held gravitational conferences, meetings and symposia. The paper indicates an important role of the gravitational research in revealing the basics of fundamental physics. In closing, an attention has been drawn to the necessity of its own system of concepts and principles of microworld physics, from which the conventional notions of space and time follows. It is on this way that a solution to the problems of combining general relativity and quantum theory has been found.
